New Transport Service to Pico do Areeiro Begins August 5th

Starting August 5th, Horários do Funchal will launch a new transport service to Pico do Areeiro. This initiative aims to enhance accessibility to this popular tourist destination while alleviating traffic congestion and parking issues. Offering a convenient transport service to Pico do Areeiro will help manage the increasing number of tourists visiting Pico do Areeiro, one of the island’s most scenic spots.

1. Funchal to Pico do Areeiro

Fare: €3.00 per trip
Bus Capacity: 31 seats
Timetable:
- Ascents from Funchal: 06:00 and 13:30 (arriving at Pico do Areeiro at 06:45 and 14:15)
- Descents from Pico do Areeiro: 12:15 and 19:00 (arriving at Funchal at 13:00 and 19:45)

- Jardim Santa Luzia
- Monte – Largo da Fonte
- Entrada Corujeira de Dentro
- Terreiro da Luta
- Portão Norte da Herdade do Chão da Lagoa

2. Shuttle between CAM Florestal and Pico do Areeiro

Fare: €1.20 per trip
Bus Capacity: 31 seats, up to 40 standing
Timetable: Runs every 15 minutes between 06:40-12:15 and 14:10-19:00

- Parque do Pico do Areeiro
- Pico do Areeiro – Rotunda near Radar

Environmental Considerations

A portion of the transport revenue will support IFCN, responsible for maintaining recommended routes on Madeira Island.

Available daily, including weekends and holidays (except December 25th or in adverse weather).

- Seat reservations are only available at the departure stops (Praça da Autonomia and Pico do Areeiro).
Bus capacity is 31 seats, and standing is only allowed in the shuttle service.
